So how can you detect cancer before it’s too late? Apart from undergoing regular age-appropriate screening tests, there is a major role you can play in the detection process. You need to watch out for any signs and symptoms of cancer. In order to do this you must do two things:

  • Know your body and what is normal for you - Consult a physician if you identify anything that seems abnormal and if the symptom persists for more than 3 weeks

  • Spend time understanding the signs and symptoms of common cancers – You will then not ignore any symptom that might prove dangerous in the long run

The section below describes some of the common cancers and their symptoms that affect women. Please remember that having any of the signs and symptoms does not mean that you have cancer – most symptoms could be due to other causes.
